Unidrive SP Overview chart
When used for motion control applications the
Unidrive SP can be operated in either servo or closed loop
vector mode. The Unidrive SP also provides customers a unique
advantage with its three option slots that can be populated with
option modules tailored for your specific application. The Unidrive
SP with SM-EZMotion can be programmed with our PowerTools Pro
software and the Unidrive SP with SM-Applications modules can be
programmed using our SyPTPro software. Two great software platforms
for one awesome servo drive.
Unidrive SP can be configured using the
keypad to operate in the following modes:
- Closed loop AC drive
- AC servo amplifier for rotary and linear motors
- Regenerative (Active) power supply
- Open loop V/Hz AC drive
- Open loop Vector AC drive
NEW– Unidrive SP Size Zero
NEW– Unidrive SP Size Zero is a new member of the Unidrive SP
range. The new model with its reduced footprint has the same
parameter set, universal motor control and user interface as the
rest of the Unidrive SP range.
Control Techniques click-in option module slots allow the drive
to be uniquely customized to your application allowing you to
select the level of intelligence, connectivity and I/O you
need.

Applications
The flexibility of the Unidrive SP with its multiple snap in
option modules makes it such a flexible solution that can be used
in limitless applications. That is why we call it our Solutions
Platform. The drives motion control capabilities and
dynamic response allow it to be applied in the most demanding
applications while its power range makes the Unidrive SP extremely
scalable. Typical applications include:
- Packaging
- High speed machines
- Elevator controls
- Textile machines
- Materials handling systems
- Printing
- Converting
- Metal production and processing
- Pick and Place
- Material Handling
- Indexing
- Conveyor Positioning
- Labeling
Benefits
- Universal drive and option module flexibility future proofs
your investment, it also means you only fit the features you need,
reducing costs, removing complexity and increasing spares
availability
- The same control philosophy through the whole drives range
reduces the learning curve
- The Unidrive SP supports over fourteen different feedback types
including; encoder, resolver, sin cos and absolute encoders
- Scalable intelligence reduces the required cabinet size and
increases system performance, especially with high speed machines
and motion applications
- Unidrive SP can easily be integrated in an automation system
using one or more click-in fieldbus option modules. Profibus,
DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, CanOpen, SERCOS, LonWorks and Interbus are
fully supported and certified
- When operating as a motion control drive/amplifier the
Unidrive SP can control servo motors, closed loop vector motors and
linear motors. Advanced position control modules such as the
SM-EZMotion and SM-Applications Plus can also be easily added to
provide unparalleled motion control performance
- Compact design and reduced weight achieved through advanced
thermal design, the use of low loss IGBTs and a rigid SMC plastic
chassis
